cover 4 ??

i'am sure this has already been covered alot before, and i was gonna use this as a twim question, but cant wait any longer!

here goes..

if you are running the 4 verticals concept against zone, (bench switch for example in gun snugs) and your opponent is in a cover 3 zone defense and you hit them deep on one of the routes that open up,then they start switching to a cover 4,

is there any obvious give-aways or tells that they are in cover 4 and not cover 3 or another zone??

do the safties or CB's align any differently so you can tell its cover 4??

any help is much appreciated!

you can only tell zone or man, you would have to know their tendencies to be able to tell cover 4 vs cover 3...best bet is to mix up a cover 3 beater with a cover 4 beater to tell what they really are doing

it looks like a cover 2 with 2 deep safties and the 2 corners up on the recivers.
Sometimes the corners will slid back and be pretty close to the depth of the safties.

iam gonna have to make some adjustments in this area...

thanks for your suggestion and advice, i got a dude who always mixes cover 3 and cover 4 all game against me, i get big plays against cover 3, he gets the picks against cover 4...lol

yeah dont the safties align almost parallel in cover 4, and yeah the CBs slide back and off to the edges sometimes... need to start reading this more

only difference in zone u can tell if its a cv2...other then that its a guessing game lol
