| I am a relatively new to Madden Football, I started playing when I got a used copy of 09, played it for about a week, and then Madden 10 came out. I started out knowing pretty much nothing about how to play this game, and my online record reflected that, with a start of 2-17.
With help from watching TWIM, reading the MB forums and a couple other sites, my play has improved and I've accrued a record of 54-31... I am now winning about every 5 games to one loss. So, recently I've decided to try and test myself against level 6 and 7 players (I'm currently a level 3) and I've been doing relatively well. My defense is much improved and I've got my playbook rockin... I even joined a league with some decent players, and I'm 2-0.
So tonight, I decide to put my skills to a real test, by playing someone with a much higher level than myself. What's the worst that can happen, right? If anything, I'm going to learn from the horrendous beating I'm probably about to receive. The player's record is 142 - 33... he's a level 17, so I know it's gonna be a hard game for me.
He wins the toss, kicks, and away I go. I get absolutely shut down. I don't think I even got a yard, I'm 3 and out on 3 of my best plays and I'm obviously feeling less than encouraged now. I punt, and he starts moving the ball. After a few first downs, I finally lock him up, getting a huge sack on 3rd down! So now I feel pretty good, and I have some confidence that I can hang with this guy!
To make a long story short, this was easily the most epic game of Madden that I've ever been involved in. I mean it was a back and forth defensive war... interceptions, tipped passes, big hitsticks, fumbles, you name it. It was a close game, a playcalling battle. At halftime the score was 3-0 for me.
The second half was just more of the same. With 2 minutes and change left to go in the 4th, the score is 8-3 for him. He had just made a huge play on 3rd down and scored a td, went for the 2, and got it. I've only got one timeout, and I'm pretty certain this is the last time I'm gonna have the ball. I don't wanna throw a pick, so I'm throwing short and running the ball, trying to get out of bounds any chance I get. It's a grueling drive. Finally I'm forced to use my timeout with about 40 seconds left. It's 4th and 6, and I'm racking my brain for that perfect play.
I find "the one", walk up to the line, and hold my breath.
The ball is snapped.
I check my reads, panic after seeing nothing, and hit the check down blue route to the flat.
My Rb catches the ball way short of the first, and Takeo Spikes is heading straight for me at full steam...I've still got 2 or 3 yards to go!
BAMMM!!!
Spikes hits me and I cringe.... But he bounces off!!!! I spin to the left, and break the tackle!!!! I've got the first, and I leave his safety missing a jock strap with a massive juke! I'm home free, TOUCH DOWNNNNN!!!!
Dude, I'm literally jumping off my couch at this point! I'm pretty sure I woke my gf in the other room with my Ric Flair WHOOOOOOing! There's only 21 seconds left, and he has no timeouts left! All I have to do is lock this kid up, and I've got it. I call a cover 4, and he lobs it up, only for my FS to snatch that bad boy right outta harms way!
THATS IT! GAME OVER!!! I've got the win in the best madden game I've ever played, against the toughest opponent I've played! I'm feeling pretty d@mn good at this point, I'm sure you guys all know that feeling of satisfaction after a big win.
So I go to send him a "Hey great game, we should do it again sometime" message while the clock runs down on the game. I finish up, come back to the game screen, and theres a black text box on the screen, asking me If I want to continue against the computer or just quit....
WHAT THE F@&K!!!!!!???!!!!!! I'M CLICKING BUT NOTHING IS HAPPENING!
I realize what just happened.
This son of a bitch. | |

| Wow!!! that was a great post, great style (I figured you lost on the last play by not bringing heat or missing the INT!)
Yeah, the bottom line is this, you played against a solid player and got the win. It may not count in your record or anything, BUT at the end of the day, you are better, more confident baller who took a risk and came out victorious. The sheer fact that you milked the clock on your last drive is the sign of a smart player who will win alot of games. You know you won the game fair and square and thats all that matters!
Look for some matchups on the forums as players are pretty skilled and they shouldnt quit on you!
I can feel the passion in your post though and thats what makes great madden players! Back in Madden 06, sgibs and I got the campus security called on us because we beat the number 16 player on xbox live! We were so fired up and the girls next door called them on us!

| if he was 142-33 and only a lv 17 he was a bumhunter. Good win though. High level players aren't good. | |

| You should have clicked Quit and Count Game...
If there is 0:00 on the clock, click Quit and Count Game. I'm betting if there's 0:01 on the clock you should click Continue vs. CPU.. because that'll run the clock out + game over..
but yeah
YOU MUST click Quit and Count game when they try to d/c glitch you.. it works everytime.

| Yeah, I didn't really know what was happening, I'd only heard of the glitch at that point. Is that the right way to deal with a dc glitch, quit and count game? At least now I know.
Man, I'm still fired up over that game.
