3 way trade?!

in a rare 3 way trade the eagles send a 5th round draft pick to the denver broncos, the broncos then send TE tony shceffler to the lions, and in turn the lions send the eagles former 1st round pick LB ernie sims, so reallys its like giving up a 5th for a sims, what are your guys thoughts on the trade? smart? dumb? i think its a steal for the eagles and not a high risk deal either cuz you didnt give alot up for him.

that would be great for philly since they have a shaky linebacker core

steal for PHI, an Al Davis stupid move for the others.......unless Sims is a bust and the Lions called it early

How is it an Al Davis stupid move? I will miss Scheffler.. but the Broncos traded a 7th rounder for a 5th rounder.. They lose Scheffler but during the last week and a half of the NFL season, Scheffler was overheard saying that he "can't wait til the season is over".. We were even in playoff contention.. that's why he sat the last game of the season.. I loved Scheffler though.. but I think it was a good deal for us anyway..

GREAT deal for Philly... He is a tackle machine... He may not make a lot of plays but he makes tackles... great for the run game... GREAT for Madden... I will Philly still had Witherspoon..

The Lions get a 7th + Scheffler... Scheffler will really help them because I believe Pettigrew will be out for a couple games... He's a great pass catching TE.. only caught 31 for us but that is good..

I said that cuz i didnt knw who the TE was...But since he couldnt wait til the season was over with DEN whats the chances that he will love the season with DET...lol...im just saying

maybe Sims had such high tackle numbers becuz of how bad DET is on defense and offense...Since the offense cant stay on the field the defense is always on the field, and since the defense cant get stops they are on the field way longer than they are supposed to be....so if you add both of the facters up he is on the field wayyyyy longer than other teams LBs....

sims didnt fit in swartz's system they like there guys to be bigger and clog holes not really run around an make tackles wich is what the eagles utilize in there defense i think him comming to a winning program and being in a system that better utilizes his speed and athleticism will help him alot, if all depends if he comes back strong from that injury wich i think he will, theres alot of if right now for the eagles:

the eagles will do great this season IF...
-stewart bradley returns to his prow bowl form
-ernie sims comes out strong and his injury doesnt slow him down
-marlin jackson or macho harris can really step in and fill that FS spot (i think they'll adress it in the draft though)
-offensive line can stay healthy
-kolb plays well

i think if the eagles do this they'll be fine, as for sims i think he's gonna be a perfect fit in the eagles defense, i also think the eagels will go saftey or corner in the first round on thursday altough i wouldnt put it past the eagles organization to go OL cuz there is a need there and no one knows at this point when jamaal jackson will be back.

i think the eagles will do fine, i also think sims is gonna be best utlilized in the eagles defense cuz they'll be able to fully take advantage of his speed and his agressive nature. now that they've aquired a quality LB i dont see them going LB in the earlier rounds of the draft, not like they ever have but... now that they've stolen ernie sims from detroit they can now focus on C/G, CB, and FS wich is very doable with the number of picks the eagles have.

Did this happen or is it theoretical? Ernie Sims is a bad mfer.

whats an mfer? and yess i do believe it happened, it was all over sports center, NFL network, and the eagles home page, a real steal for the eagles IMO im excited to see him in action.

oh gotcha thanks nizz, shoulda put that one together myslef my bad farls, but im excited to see him in an eagles uniform, i think he's gonna do very well in the eagles defensive scheme, he wasnt a good fit for jim schwart's system, but he can cover TE's really good, and hits hard and is aggressive just like the rest of the eagles D he's a perfect fit IMO and what makes it better is that he can play both OLB positions so he's versatile we'll have to see how much he actually impacts the D though.
