| On cover 3 the safety rolls down...Showing a 1 high look cover 2 the safeties dont move at all and the corners are in BNR position (except in dine Flat) | |

| Also in cover 3 one of the corners will be looking in the backfield. | |

| I have a better tip.
Cover 2 = Safeties will be lined up evenly, BOTH CBs will be looking directly at the WRs, about 2 yds from the WR in press coverage.
Cover 3 = One CB will look at the QB. The other CB will be staring at the WR. If it is a 3-4 formation, the safety on the side of the CB staring at the WR is in a HOOK Zone.. If it's the 4-3, then the safety on the side of the CB staring at the QB is in a HOOK zone.
Cover 4 = Both CBs are staring at the QB. Motion your outside right WR to see if it's man coverage.. If no one follows, it's zone.
Man = Both CBs are staring at the QB. If someone is standing over your slot WR, it's probably man unless your opponent is in a formation like DIME where a nickelback starts where your WR is lined up. CBs are about 4 yds from the WR. Man Press coverage = Both CBs are staring at the WR. CBs are about 2 yds from the WR.
Some plays can look like Cover 4.. for instance.. Sting Pinch Zone should look like Cover 4 [Both CBs will stare at the QB] The reason it's like this is because the CBs are actually in DEEP zones instead of flat zones like most cover 2 formations.. In the 4-4, I believe Cover 2 Invert may look like a Cover 4... both CBs will look at the QB..
When your opponents call press coverage vs. zone, they can hide this key factors in determining what coverage it is... | |
