NFL refs are in the line of fire... thus, they're more inclined to call the plays right, or potentially get "run into" by an NFL monster (on purpose or accident)... their senses & attention to detail are far more on point.

Fear?

That being said.. NFL refs blow a lot of calls, but having replay now, saves their bones a little if they screw up blatantly. Also, there's more players on a football field than there are a basketball game.. which results in more refs; more eyes.
An NFL team can have a bad call on 1st & 10.. but still have plays at their disposal.. whereas in basketball.. the ball switches hands right away. I think there needs to be at least 1 or 2 more refs in a basketball game, because the speed of the game is getting a lot faster, and some of the judgement calls these guys are making can easily sway the momentum of the game (because the ball switches hands too often). A href Baseball is just a joke. All the refs do is make sure a ball doesn't cross a line.
A player doesn't swing a bat full arc. Make sure a foot touches before the ball hits the leather, or vice versa... And, lastly fit balls into a personal strike zone. All they do is stand there & watch & still can't seem to get it right. If any league needs replay, it's baseball... but who want's to sit through a 9 inning game, that may already last 5 hours... and then slow it down even more with replay? The game is bordering boring already (in terms of the speed & thrill of NFL, NBA or NHL).. it's almost becoming a tennis match or a soccer game... and though they may be fun sports to play.. they're not all THAT intense to watch. (Well, I take that back.. Tennis can get pretty intense).. but team sports that are THAT slow... it's kind of a wash. :bball:http://www.2009allstar.com
