What does audible down mean? Is it audible down to the next available quick audible or what?

Audible down means to go from a shotgun formation to a power run formation, generally.

This is utilized to create a mismatch. If you come out in the Shotgun, your opponent will most likely set up pass defense. You can catch them off guard by audibling into a run formation (goaline, i-form twin TE, strong i twin TE, i-form tight) and running the ball when they are out of position on defense.

Audible down means you are going from one formation that has the personnel you want to use in the formation you'll audible down to. Say if I want to run Singleback Ace with 4 WRs. I would have to come out in Gun Snugs with 4 WRs / 1 RB and audible to Singleback Ace so now instead of having 2 WRs / 2 TE/ 1 RB like Ace normally does, I now have 4 WRs / 1 RB. It's really useful in certain situations.. like if you want more speed on the field.. or if a TE is running an awesome route that beats man coverage, you can put a faster player there by audibling down & your player will get even more separation.

Quick Audible down means you are using a formation audible. Formation Audible down is a run audible. If I'm in Gun - Bunch Wk, and I want to use my quick audible down, I will press Square+Square (or X if on 360) then down on the right stick.

Not always, you can audible down from Undercenter Snugs Flip, to I-Form Tight Pair.. I always see audibling down as trying to get faster personnel on the field.

ok ok, i havent a clue what you just said. So here is the background.

Im using the scheme sgibs showed for the baltimore ravens in MadDen TV.

I come out in Strong H Twins running the Outside Zone. He then said in his video that you can audible down to HB dive through the A gap. How do i do that?

He meant "formation audible" "down"...not "audible down"

Smile

I know it's confusing. But in that example, he meant he is using the formation audible and pressing the right stick down to access the run play for that formation.

OK so how would i do that, the only way i can get to the HB dive through the A gap is if i click x then right on the stick to run. Or is that what you meant?

No, to audible to the HB Dive you have to hit X twice and then down on the right stick once. You have to be in the same formation though.

We say press square / X twice because you don't want to make it a habit to use the "Quick Pass, Run, PA Pass, Deep Pass" options because if you go to a tournament or play a friend, they can see it.. I think the selection you make is actually hidden when you play a friend, but it's still better to do it by pressing Square/X twice because it's faster.

He lives in England. Not to embarass him, but until he gets the football schematics/basics down, let's teach him like anyone else who has never played Madden before.

But, since you are acquainted with formation audibles...any formation you come out in:

Up is a quick pass (generally a play with slants)
Down is run (generally a dive or power o)
Right is deep pass (generally has a post route)
Left is a playaction pass (fake the handoff to the runningback then throw to open man)

i know the basics of football as i coach it over here at university level (college equivilent in US) Its just madden i cant get to grips with lol... Always been like that. Give me 22 guys and a field and i can run a decent game, give me virtual players and im useless.

I didnt know that you can see it when you play a freind, explains a few things, Knight if you read this could you confirm that you saw me formation audible to a quick pass, as i did it a few times in the game.

Thanks for the break down Zan, ill try and remember that

Well smash, stick, 3 verts, 4 verts, levels, under, drive, mesh, texas, double slants all work in madden.. Some formations better than others and sometimes better when you create it rather than the default play

One thing you can do (I learned this from online home page on madden lol)is when you go to your quick audibles, scrool to what quick audible you want to do, hold a and continue moving it
example
say i want to quick aud to run, go to run and hold A and continue moving left stick like your quick aud to something else. No matter what you are going to from there on, you will now be running it

that goes for when your playing against a friend or in a offline tourney
