custom playbooks will be nice ONLY if its for actual online play....but unless the playbooks are expanded, that just means everyone will just use the best formations.. aka snugs, gunbunch, sb bunch, sb tight doubles, tight flex, etc.. that would be annoying as hell.
That spectator mode is perhaps the swellest idea yet for online play in Madden history.

i think custom playbooks should be dictated by your skill level online, the more games you win the more pbs and customization you can add to your arsenal, basically earning your custom PB, and glitchers and quitters get negative points and they just have to stick with their teams default playbook.just a thought,

for online i really dont care if you can use custom playbooks as long as all the playbooks are expanded and more in depth, unlike madden 11 where they cut a lot out of every playbook to make it "simpler" and "quicker"

come on sasser! some people play ranked and thats all they care about. heck if ranked games where regulated a bit more I would be all over them.
the big drawback for ranked games are all the disconnects that happen and free wins, for me anyways

Once I joined the MRL I started looking at ranked games as practice games. Either I'm better than the other person and I get to try out new plays and schemes, or I'm worse than the other person and I'll learn to capitalize on my strengths while getting rid of my weaknesses (or at least learning to play around them). And no matter whether I'm better OR worse, every game is a chance to try out new playbooks and depth chart alignments so I can get the best possible personnel combination on the field.
Ranked games are win.

Online ranked games make me feel warm and fuzzy at night. I hope they stop breaking madden, even though I love it and enjoy it, it is quite broken...I think they should take all the top players in the country and let them test the game out to expose errors in programming and AI. I dunno who tests it but lets be honest people buy the game and get frustrated regardless you might as well just tailor it for the people who actually play and learn the ins and outs of the game to tune it better

ranked games are actually good because, when people play ranked, they try their best to not make mistakes and they play it safe, for example, 4th and 7, a guy playing ranked will punt the ball, unranked on the other hand guys will go for it, and when u shut them down they quit the game also while playing unranked you have a lot of clowns and a**holes that do stupid stuff.most people know in the back of their minds once the ranked game starts, u either play it safe and bring your best and try to get the win or quit and tarnish your record, when u play unranked, theres no repercussions(spell check?), meaning you can quit at will, and fool around and take GREAT risks against your opponent.

I play ranked 98% of the time.... I only step in unranked only for money game type situations. I see wayyyy better comp in a ranked game (at least i did).
Theres no point in playing un ranked unless u knw the person anyway. and 7/10 times if i knw the person i knw how they play. And that isnt helping u get better, (IMO) , what helps u get better is to see many diff looks and learning how to defend them on the fly.
IMO the only reason ppl say that un rakned is where its at is cuz all madden caters to the "mis match" that the raiders type of teams (every year) give the user

Well to be honest, if ur tryna get better playing by ranked games, playing people under the level 15 isnt helpin..if u play people with higher levels, more times then not they are gonna cheat u out of a win..... AND on top of that, they just manually rush up the middle.. If u were to take 6-8 guys out of the top ten and put them in like the c4 league in the majors, I'd give them an 8-8'ish record at best...I could easily be in the top 10 if I didnt F off ranked games and Ive been cheated out of wins by 8 out of the 10 guys......just sayin...
If ur playin for $ or a tourney game its gonna be all-madden...and its way better then all-pro, its alot harder to translate from all-pro to all-madden then it is vice versa..
ranked games is pretty much about who has the prettiest record vs other online ranked players....with no reward for bein #1...just braggin rights I suppose.

If you took 6-8 of the guys out of the top 10, their entire offense would be banned from C4.

I don't really find that true.. Not sure who plays unranked games at all.. other than for C4/MRL games.. I always see people going for it on 4th and long in ranked games.. It's a common complaint.. Most people stop playing ranked games because of the "cheesers" and people that play recklessly like going for it on 4th and 20.. or passing it every down.. then some move to leagues which there are rules.. very loose rules, but they still help put everyone on an equal field.
