I NEED DEFENSIVE HELP

I cannot consistently stop the run. When I get some stops on inside runs, all they do is pitch it out. then when i try to stop the pitch they just run in. i just do not know what to do.

Also lately all people can do is throw out routes which for some reason are always open no matter what. how can i stop this?
