its because you can't substitute the safety in to the line backer position in every formation

so if i set my depth chart for a ss to start rolb, im cheating, but if i select quarters and audible down to 3/4 im good?

does anyone really care if i set my depth chart for a ss to start @ rolb

( i just need some speed at olb and wangtang cornered the market)

If a Player chooses to substitute players, only position for position substitutions will be allowed with a few exceptions listed in the table below. For example, only players whose primary position is WR or TE may be substituted for a WR. Despite these substitution limitations, Players will be allowed to use all packages available to them in the Package feature and there are no limitations on Special Teams substitutions. The bolded part is the reason why you can't put them in your depth chart or substitution.

Outside Linebackers and Middle Linebacker positions can only have right defensive ends, left defensive ends, right outside linebackers, middle linebackers, and left outside linebackers subbed in for them.






Rules of Note:

18. Players may not turn any broken play action or running plays into a QB sneak, draw, or bootleg.
-Added to prevent the now patched QB Draw from Snugs Flip.. You could cancel play action, and you had instant access to the QB with no drop back.

19. Players may not run the HB Direct Snap play after sending a player in motion. This doesn’t include plays run out of the Wildcat formation.
-I was a little surprised when I saw this rule. I had always thought it was banned, but you just can't use motion with it.. So you could use the Split Offset - HB Direct Snap play.. effectively..


20. If a Player runs a play out of a formation in which the QB takes the snap under center and carries the ball across the line of scrimmage with their QB, their QB’s first two steps must have been taken away from the line of scrimmage. This rule doesn’t apply in situations where the yardage to gain for a 1st Down or Touchdown is 1 yard or less.
-Basically, You can only QB sneak if it's 1st and 1 or less, 2nd and 1 or less, 3rd and 1 or less, 4th 1 or less, or if you are on the 1 yd line.
You can't even QB Sneak on the 2 yd line =( So people, get familiar with this rule. You don't wanna have to give up a TD then punt the ball.. [At MLG, you have to punt the ball if you break a rule.. if the rule break results in points.. those points are deducted at the end.. well you can't do that in the franchise so you'll have to let your opponent score.. then on your next offensive possession.. you have to punt. So basically, you let them score, then they kick off to you; You punt the ball away... Not fun.. so don't QB sneak unless it's 1yd til the first down or touchdown.]

You have to follow this rule to make the Wrinkle legal. You will want to just spin in a circle / manually step back first, then take off because I've been warned in the EAFL and had to punt just because I broke this stupid rule. I took a step, but it was ruled as a "baby" step.. Also apparently I was trying to break the rules.. I was tippy toeing around the rules to find a loophole... In reality, I was just making the play legal so I wouldn't get in trouble..

Yeah if you audible down, you are good. I don't like when players put SS @ OLB because it's just looks unnatural since I've been playing tournament rules.. and plus, they should've invested in fast LBs instead of SS Which I invested in both LOL...

i specifically changed my line up today so i did not break the rules (ss @ olb), and i posted the question on here to make sure we were using mlg rules...

today when i lost, dude ran ne offense and im certain he ran hb direct snap with motion...personally, i dont have a problem with someone doing this, i dont consider it cheating or a glitch (maybe i should) and dude played straight up..its not like he was exploiting it (all i want is a ss at olb on my depth chart and im willing to look the other way on the above infraction to get it )

how is this stuff policed...what is the penalty for breaking the rules and can i pls pls pls put my ss at olb

lol.. I just like following the rules.. If we are playing MLG rules, I don't like having SS at LB.. I don't even do it in ranked games because I want to be able to pick up my depth chart and go straight to a tournament without having to adjust to not having Quentin Mikell and Quentin Demps at LB.. I'd rather have Stewart Bradley at LB since you would have to at MLG.. Also, the EAFL uses MLG rules, so if I learn a new scheme, I want my scheme to be legal.. If I'm blitzing the A-gap with Mikell [90 spd], it's a lot different then blitzing with Bradley. [75? speed]


Also, I would like that people have to actually improve their team with actual linebackers instead of drafting a 90 speed 88 hit power 6'2" SS.. He could be an OLB or a CB/FS/SS .. That is almost an unfair advantage because I spent my draft picks on fast LBs.. that will all be negated if someone picks up a free agent SS to put at OLB.. they wasted nothing but a roster spot.

i know i can audible down, but can i also make adjustments at the play call screen...put in my ss at lb there and leave my depth chart in tact?

Unless VaBeach changes the rules to SS @ OLB, you can't. You read my last post or at least I hope you did =(

Substitutions are with the R1 button. [I think R1] If you substitute in a player for a OLB/MLB, it must be a RE/LE/MLB/OLB.. nothing else =/


You can just audible down... especially if you use the 4-4..

You can audible down from the 4-3 Normal to get a SS at your OLB on the right of the screen..
