even with the offense

I was watching TWIM 47 and it seemed like if there were five lineman, two tight ends, and a fullback equaling eight offensive players, the defense put eight people in the box. Is this a concept you would recommend to stay even with the offense? It seemed like even when your eight defenders were in zone without a blitz they still stuffed the run.
