| If you have never been a part of an auction league (fantasy football, baseball, whatever) then you dont understand the concept. Not to mention by having private bids that are done offline means that we would be putting the commishes in an uncomfortable situation since they will know the bids and therefore have to decide how to bid themselves with hopes of not being scrutinized for it. If it's public it's fair. private leads to too many intangibles. | |

| I think it should be private that way people aren't over bidding each other. Just put in what you want to spend and if you don't get the player no big deal. Also I don't think it'd put Goldenrage in an awkward situation cause we all know he'll use his best judgment when making a claim. I have absolute confidence in Rage's integrity and anything he comes up with I will support 100%. | |

1st point - Concept doesn't matter cause this is a game similar to a real sport...comparing it to fantasy makes 0 sense. 2nd point - If you don't trust the commissioner, you should not be playing in he/her league. Besides, he can make a twitter account that is specifically designed for Free Agency. Only check it on the morning after the deadline, and award the winner his requested player. The commissioner should never be in an uncomfortable situation cause all issues should be panned out at the start of the season and any upcoming issues should be resolved at the end of the current season. 3rd point - Public is not fair and it also takes away from strategy as well as your ability to sign players that you want at low market values. Example, I need a RB and you are loaded at RB, but you don't want me to advance. I bid 30 for a RB and your team is stacked from top to bottom. You bid until you take me out of the running. It's very much unfair to do it public, and the concept would take away from the real-life GM that Rage is trying to simulate. Just my opinion though...you know I'm right. King Shorticus

| I disagree with you saying that it takes away strategy. It makes more strategy. I want you to over pay for something if thats waht you need. Not to mention that it could backfire. Plus you threw out the bid of 30 as an example. Where would you even get that from? WHat would the market call for in bids? You bid 30 I bid 250?
I dont know if there is a perfect way of doing this. Its up to Rage, this is the first go at it so if it doesnt work how he places it he can change it the second time around.
You Know IM RIGHT!!!!! | |

| Ive run numerous leagues before in many different formats. The point of whether any of us trust rage or nitka is irrelevent. The fact of the matter is that when you do things privately that involves commish's as OWNERS as well it automatically puts them in an uncomfortable position. If there is even the slightest inkling that something was compromised then the problem will snowball. Ultimately rage and nitka are players first and administrators second and if we can relieve them from any headaches like an integrity questioning owner then we should put them in the position to be protected from stuff like that or the league will fail.
Solutions:
Open bidding process and have a closing bid time (say midnight/11/10) whatever. If your tweet comes in at 12:01 then it will not be counted and the last bid will be honored. We DO NOT have an unlimited pool of money so like nitka said, the budget for the player MUST come from somewhere. In the NFL how do you think the wiaver system works? Same as MLB. It's all public claims they just dont shot it TO the public but every team knows who is submitting a claim. This should be no different. If you are in my division and lose AP for the year and i have the opportunity to spend my budget how i deem fit then it's by all means appropriate to attempt to cockblock you from that player if you can afford it. That puts a level of strategy to this thing that would be a blast and make it SOOOO much more interesting.

| I think the private bidding is the way to go as well. I think if we have an open bidding process you'll have people flooding offers with 1 min to go and/or people will get pissed if someone inflates the price on a player. Say I want to get a scrub player and just to be a dick Shorticus drives up the price for the sole purpose of pissing me off. I think it'd solve more headaches by just having it private. Or like shorticus said have a separate twitter account that the commishes only check once the deadline is past. | |
