I keep throwing picks on routes that look open to me. What is open when looking at streaks/slants or similar routes?

ex. On streaks the QB throws it short when the DB is behind me and long when he's in front. On slant outs, the db is above and behind so I throw down and away and they jump the route.

using Romo/Cowboys. Typically playing the Bears (human) or Redskins (CPU). I'm sure it's a timing thing, but I think I'm still on Madden 2011 timing!

What play do you guys think is the best base play to come out in almost every time for offense and defense?

PostSubject: Scheme help   TWIM 65 Mailbag EmptyTue Dec 20, 2011 6:12 pm

In regular ranked matches against random opponents I am able to execute great . My problem is when I play my friends. We have played so much that they are now able to shut my scheme down. Need a little help creating a new one. Using NE pb. I know this pb pretty well been using it for 3 years. But would love someone else input. Also I play with the rams any suggestions on their depth chart.

I keep seeing advice on how to stop the run and they are bringing the safety down through the gap and making a tackle. But if they pass, you have your safety way out of position. How do the better players identify the run quickly and adjust so they don't get burnt on the pass or the run? I've heard "so when you know they're going to run"... but what might tip this off? What would you look for at the snap and how would you move your player properly to put him in the best position (instead of running into a blocker because you're not watching where he's going).

Most players try to build an O that is capable of containing a run (to 5 or less depending on user stick) while bringing a solid pass rush/having good coverage...

To me, it's about usering the run, not selling out to it.

Whenever I try and move guys to user catch (on PS3), they don't respond enough or they respond too much. I have particular difficulty with the bullet passes/user catches. I can't click over fast enough to control the WR. How much do you move the stick?

udder, that's really not something they can help you with. You just gotta go into practice mode and throw hundreds of them vs. nearly every coverage and you'll get it down.

I guess what I need is somebody who can do it so show me in person, 'cause outside of the deep throws, I don't have enough time to switch over and move the guy at all. At 20 yards, I'm lucky to get clicked over, let alone move the guy. On the deeper routes, where it's a tap throw, I can get control - it's hit or miss and I can see how practice will help, but on the shorter routes and bullet passes, I'm just not understanding something. Maybe I'm holding the pass button down too long or something. All the videos you see just show the madden screen, not the people, so it's hard to know what's happening at the other end Smile

I believe it's the next step I have to take and it's just not coming at all Sad

Click on as soon as the ball leaves the QB's hand and get inside position while holding Y and running upfield. It's not too terribly difficult.

Why does the strafe button have a half second delay after you click on making it impossible to yick facethrows in zone defense unlike last year

Honestly, it really doesn't sound hard, which is why I can't understand the difficulty I'm having. Appreciate the re-enforcement that it's not rocket science Very Happy

If your quarterback is named Manning, Rodgers, Brady, Brees, or Rivers...then by all means! If you're dealing with Grossman, Henne, Dalton, etc...I tend not to pass lead. They already throw enough errant balls.

what about romo? He seems to have some elite-like stats when it comes to passing, but he can be crazy eratic/wild as well.

Romo lays down sometimes. Not a huge fan of the Cowboys' secondary or their QB.

Yeah, agree there. Romo can't hit the broad side of a barn some games. And the secondary is always getting torched and when they do get in position, have a hard time catching a cold. They're out of position an awful lot.
