Bad news possibly on Strategy Pad

EDIT: Madden 11 will have the old button configuration as an option.

EDIT: Its now optional yay!!

They said they're patching in the option to change back. I'll be buying the game the day after that patch if they can even get it out before NHL 11 comes out.

yea, i wish they had left the pad as the only option an just took away the tap to activate it

but i will be switching back to how it was in M10

now i can just pick a defensive playbook based on more than just if i can get all my adjustment in b4 the snap...lol

We do believe that this change is for the better, and that in the long run it delivers a much more positive experience to the gamers that are willing to try and adapt. Due to the overwhelming feedback however, we will be providing the old-style button commands as an option that can be enabled. We are currently targeting this change to be released around the first week of the NFL season as it will take some time to get through third party approvals. So now that it's out of the way, let's all try to sit back and have some fun with Madden NFL 11...after all, football season is almost here!

u know whats funny is that people will prob be used to the dpad by time its patched and the wont switch back to the old controls LOL

wandeezy, that may happen to a few, but the old options will still be faster.

I've explained it before, and I have time right now
The SP forces you to move your thumb from the left stick to the D-pad for every adjustment. First, activate, then select hot routes.. if you wanna yellow zone.. D-pad up.. That's a common zone a lot of people use.. In M10, you could move your player to the A-gap, still have your thumb on the movement stick while pressing X then down on the left stick.. then on to the next one; There's no point in which you need to remove your thumb from one place to another..

The biggest thing about that too is the left stick is required for you to user defense.. You can use the D-pad but you aren't as accurate at moving. You can easily miss angles if you use the D-pad. So if you don't make it back in time on the left stick, you lose time on where to move, who is cutting over the middle, is it a screen? If you get lost on the left stick before the snap, it'll cause you yards & TDs..

^^im not disagreeing with you that it is faster, all I am saying is that dont you think he is waiting to update a month into the game so that people HAVE to play with the strat pad for an extended period of time in hopes that it will catch on?

I'm not sure. He's said in the past that it takes a while to get patches on both systems because they have to inquiry everyone that is involved with the game. 3rd parties. I think the 3rd parties are people that have ads in the game & such.
