Pause Glitch?

I dont wanna know how you do it. I just wanna know what happens if somebody does it to you?

Was just playing a guy in an online franchise, he paused the game and then a message pops up on screen saying the connection has been lost. Usually you get the option to quit and count game but didn't get it this time.
