The Bears Almost Got Taylor Mays

They were going to convert him to Sam linebacker. That's playing the strong side, for those who are unfamiliar with Sam, Mike, and Will backers.

Before anyone critiques, Urlacher was a safety coming out of New Mexico and was converted. The Bears apparently found an undrafted free agent gem out of 6'4'' 230 lbs Pittsburgh Panther FS Dom DeCicco, and they are converting him to be the heir apparent to Urlacher. All reports are that this kid is a huge steal and many teams missed an opportunity on also picking him up to convert him to LB.

But, can you imagine Mays, Urlacher, and Briggs. Not to mention...with the position change, that makes him DE eligible on the tournament scene! Good lord!

Sad from a Madden standpoint, because it sounds like all it took was the 3rd rounder that the Panthers gave Chicago for Olsen. Knowing how Jerry Angelo drafts, trading that pick for Mays is essentially trading Olsen for Mays...which is definitely a bad trade in real life, but is still better than what we'll get in the third next year from Carolina.

So, we all knew Mays was out there. Let's spark this convo up. Where do you think he ends up?

If the Cowboys want secondary help, it's not going to come in the form of Taylor Mays. He has no coverage skill. He's just a centerfielder who would rather behead someone than cover. That's why the Bears thought he could be a suit at sam backer. He'd either drop into a hook zone, mark the RB out of the backfield into the flat, or read run and react...all things he can do well.

Yah he def needs some time to learn how to play ss ( which I think its the appropiate position for him ) but I think he can be coached up just as any rookie should be. Well this being his 2nd year in league, some players take 3-4 years to blossom into pro bowl caliber players. He has the talent and potential..

That would of pumped me up, I have been so down on the Bears latley because of the O-Line they didnt address. That would of been a great Madden LB Core!!

Taylor Mays should help the bengals some at least for madden him and robert sands with a few updates to his speed back there should be amazing.
