Who wants to talk Panthers? Empty
PostSubject: Who wants to talk Panthers?   Who wants to talk Panthers? EmptyWed Mar 14, 2012 12:21 pm

Been running with the Rams/Panthers forever, and just wanted to see if anyone could lend some advice, shoot some ideas back and forth. -Depth Chart Set Up -Different Playbooks/Formations/Plays -How To Best Utilize Cam -Hidden Gem Players

What are some good ways to QB Run, use Cam's mobility. I love using my team, but I tend to play a more conventional pocket QB style of play and haven't been able to translate into that dual threat that Cam has.

46/43 depth chart help what type of players do you need at certain possitions, especially at DL/OL, CB/SS/FS.

Please MBNation help a long time friend out. Keep up the great work guys Very Happy

ive played with them a few times this year, my only complaint is the secondary, i love godfrey because im a fan of speedy strong safties, martin is ok, he has great catching abilty and height.sometimes i put him in at the number 1 CB, because lately ive been playing a lot of cover 2 and a lot of the top online players love utilizing tosses, so i usually have a safety at the CB spot to get off that block and stop that toss. and then i'll put gamble @ the FS. or, now i bleieve they have some hidden gems in the secondary, im
@ work right now so forgive me if i dont get the names right. but hogan and thomas, one of them plays SS postion exceptionally well, i think its thomas, he has decent tackling and strength, its not the best of the best of course, but its exceptional, and bewtween one of those two they can catch very well, catching in the high 60's low 70s and decent zone coverage. the strenght in th panthers though comes from that notorious LB core, i call them the ''bemuda triangle'', beason, thomas, anderson.now, theres some options here.the panthers have the uncanny abilty to play the 46 as is w/o the speed package effectively, theyhave the abilty to play the bear effectively, 335 and 46 bear.you could put thomas and anderson @ the ends, and charles johnson and mcclain and the DTs, and use gamble, munnerlyn (i despise), hogan, ands thomasfor your 46 speed. or leave the depth chart as is and play a normal 46.if you choose to play 46 speed, be advised that evenm though the LBs are fast. they are not strong enough, meaning if thery were DEs in your scheme, then of course they would do wonders against a mobile QB, why? because their strength is finesse and not power.the can swim they @$$ off. but they arent like a ngata, or a hali or a dorsey, then of course you would have to apply WFcolonels philosophy of the 4-3 by slanting your d-line to get the best results from your ends.beason of course is your mr. do everthing LB so no questions their.these LBs will fly towards the ball a lot.so here's my pros and cons overall about carolina defensively.

Pros-.good LB depth gaither and dillard and connor are underrated, fast Lbs, versatile defensively and offensively (you can use ther full house offense with them effectively, FB slam + J. Stewart=results), can tackle very well.

Cons-while they may be fast, they lack strength; they are also soft in the middle for the DT position, many people put johnson at DT, but his tackling suffers greatly because he's not playing his natural position.munnerlyn's fast but his height will make you pay against tall WR such as dez bryant, lloyd, sidney rice etc.

hope this helps man.

That's my only complaint too is the secondary. I haven't got to check out the depth chart like you said yet but will soon look at it.
I just can't find the right way to use the secondary. Munnerlyn is athletic but is too weak imo to play a 3cb spot and too short to play the 1/2cb spot. Martn is nice and comes up with catches alot, Godfrey is a great speed/strength.
What would be your secondary depth chart look like? I always feel that the player play better in theirnatural positons.
Great point about the toss.
What is WFColonel philosophy,he has great posts, liked to know what he thinks about the 4-3.
Any ideas on using Cam?
Thanks Yngclassic

For utilizing Cam u can run a bronco heavy scheme. The formation really fits the panthers o nicely. The wr run plays really utilize Steve smiths speed and the QB draws that are either stock or can be created from this form fit cams abilities nicely. Also u can try running a pass oriented scheme like gun tight, snugs, or tight doubles on and for the D to play coverage to stop u and then take off with Cam. I feel it's more frustrating if u create a pass first run second offense. It's just annoying when u have all the routes locked up with coverage and your opponent still gets the first because of a run by Cam.

Great tips guys, Very Happy
The debate right now is what to do with the secondary?
Those who are familar with their depth chart, who would you recommend at the CB/SS/FS spots, when running 46 and 4-3?
